MAY event

On January 25, 2024, the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority broke ground on a $1.2 billion new, safer, modern, and more convenient passenger terminal at Hollywood Burbank Airport, a project known as “Elevate Burbank.” The new 355,000 square-foot terminal with 14 passenger gates, is scheduled to open in late 2026 and will replace the existing 1920’s terminal to meet FAA standards and improve the overall passenger experience.
The new terminal will offer a variety of options for shopping and dining, upgraded bathrooms and more space to move around. A new ticketing lobby, baggage screening system, updated TSA checkpoint and new baggage claim area will make travel easier. The design is intended to be reminiscent of a silver screen in a public plaza – a recognition of the film industry’s roots in Burbank – with other Mid-Century Modern architecture elements.
