Dear TTMA Members and Friends,
2018 was truly a magical year for TTMA as our organization accomplished incredible things.
Membership continues to thrive. Our members are engaged and our meetings continue to provide interesting and valuable content. In addition, the business relationships that our members have been able to cultivate thru their TTMA connections remain invaluable. As normal, the highlight of the year was the TTMA Awards luncheon. Honorees; the Beverly Center & Marilyn Hannes of SeaWorld were recognized for their incredible contributions to the Travel and Tourism community. And of course, we are always thankful to have so much support from so many TTMA members to make the event so successful.
While we look back on 2018 and are proud of our accomplishments, 2019 has already brought a noteworthy change. Our organization sends out a heartfelt and extremely grateful “Bon Voyage” to our longstanding Executive Director, Sue McCloskey who is retiring. As you all know, Sue has provided TTMA with steady & focused leadership for many years. Thankfully, after an exhaustive search with numerous quality candidates, we are thrilled to welcome Michelle Carlen as our new Executive Director. Michelle brings a rich history in the industry including leadership positions in hospitality organizations in Santa Barbara, Newport Beach, Irvine and Monterey. Please join me in welcoming Michelle to our TTMA family when you see her at one of our upcoming events.
Our TTMA Board has also undergone some changes. We are sad to say goodbye to long-time Board member Lisa Scalia. Lisa has been on the Board for many years and we are so grateful for all of her many amazing contributions. New to the Board for 2019 are Tricia Halsema with SeaWorld, Maritza Cerrato with The Original Farmers Market and Lauren Schlau with Lauren Schlau Consulting. We are thankful to add such talented individuals to our Board. So, as we move forward, I am honored to serve as your TTMA President for 2019. It is a privilege to work side by side with our Board of Directors and to continue the work of making TTMA even more valuable to all of our members. Most importantly, I would like to thank all of our members, supporters and friends. We are a strong & vibrant organization because of each of you.
I look forward to seeing you at our April meeting where we will hear an update from Bill Karz, Vice President of Digital Marketing for LATCB. It promises to be an insightful meeting.
Again, thanks to each of you for your continued support of TTMA!
2019 President, TTMA - Travel & Tourism Marketing Association, Inc.
