LOS ANGELES, CA, May 8, 2008 – The Travel and Tourism Marketing Association (TTMA) is honoring Mr. Mark Liberman, President & CEO of LA INC., The Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau, with the Anastasia K. Mann Leadership Award. Also being honored with TTMA’s prestigious Landmark Award is The Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens represented by Dr. Steven Koblik, President.
The awards ceremony will be held Thursday, September 25th, 11:30 a.m.-2:00 p.m. at The Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens in San Marino, CA. “TTMA is honoring Mark Liberman for his endless support to the tourism industry of Los Angeles. Liberman has worked feverishly to increase visitors to Los Angeles and arrivals to the local airports, both domestically and internationally. During his five-year tenure with LA INC, citywide convention bookings have increased by 258 percent and the number of convention room nights booked has increased 800 percent,” stated Jean-Pierre Gaspar, InterContinental Dallas and Geneva, Chairman of this event.
The Huntington Library, also renowned for its Art Collections and Botanical Gardens, is being presented the TTMA Landmark Award. The Huntington is an oasis of art and culture set amidst 150 acres of breathtaking gardens. The Library features works from British and American history and literature, including an original Gutenberg Bible and Chaucer's Canterbury Tales and is home to some 6.5 million rare manuscripts and more than a million rare books, many of which are the most heavily used in the United States. Accepting on its behalf is Steven Koblik, diplomatic historian and the seventh President of the Library, “Dr.Koblik has a rich background serving the California collegiate system as dean, professor and author and has received many honors for his contributions," stated TTMA President Lovetta Kramer. "We are pleased to present this award to him for the Huntington, a true Southern California cultural icon."
The Anastasia K. Mann Leadership Award and the TTMA Landmark Award were created to honor leaders in the travel and tourism industry. The Anastasia K. Mann Leadership Award is bestowed upon individuals whose direction and vision have made a lasting impact on the travel and tourism industry. The TTMA Landmark Award was created to publicly acknowledge important tourism landmarks representing vital and dynamic examples of historically and culturally significant places, which play an important role in Southern California tourism.
“TTMA couldn’t have two more deserving individuals than Mr.Mark Liberman and Dr. Steven Koblick to receive these awards,” stated Vice-Chair of the event, Frances Kiradjian, The Kiradjian Group and TravelMole. “We are looking forward to an amazing celebration in September to honor them,” she added.
